Believe in this filly…

In the racing game, winning is the key and this filly has done nothing but win, going two from two and looks to be a talented filly of the future – her name – Believe!

Recording back to back wins with daughters of Fastnet Rock, Believe contested the final race of the day at Rosehill on Wednesday after the victory of Mary Lou in the race prior.

An impressive length winner on debut at Newcastle over 1300m, the filly started well in the market in the ATC Staff Recognition Day over 1500m with Kerrin McEvoy taking the ride.

Away from barrier 6 in the 12 horse field, McEvoy pushed forward to go to the lead, keeping favoured running Dixie Blossom planted out wide.

As the Gerald Ryan–trained Love’s A Fantasy made a mid-race move, travelling three wide to hit the lead on the home bend, the race was on as the leaders pulled away.

Fighting back, Believe hit the lead at the 200m mark and pulled away for an impressive length victory from Dixie Blossom, with Love’s A Fantasy weakening to finish a further length and quarter back in third.

The impressive winning performance can be viewed here.

With a nomination to the Group 1 ATC Oaks on April 9, Believe has the pedigree to get an Oaks distance with not only her sire producing Group 1 VRC Oaks winner Mosheen, but Optimist, the dam of Believe is a Red Ransom half-sister to Makybe Diva – enough said.

“She is a very talented filly. I think she was just getting warm when she went past the post as she is heading for the Oaks and has an Oaks preparation all along,” stated Cummings post-race.

“She will go to the Keith Nolan now and then back here for the mile and quarter and then to the Oaks.”

Run on Friday March 11 at Kembla Grange, the Group 3 Keith Nolan Classic (1600m) has been a very good form race in the past with stable runner Miss Darcey running a very good third in the race before winning Group 3 Adrian Knox followed by third in the Group 1 ATC Oaks.

Having won the Australian Oaks with On Air, a dominant two length winner a few years back, the stable understands what it takes to get a filly ready for the race, and are confident that this filly has all the attributes to be competitive over the Randwick 2400m.

“This is amazing. We had a friend who died a couple of years ago, and we said we would get a horse and name it after him. His name was Mark and his second was Fawaz, so that is where Prince Fawaz comes from.
