Stable Debutants Ready For Wet Weather

Apr 21, 2015

Stable debutants His Lordship and Silent Oath are ready for the wet tracks on offer this week, provided those meetings go ahead.

Both horses trialled last monday at Randwick in heavy ground, with both handling the surface comfortably. Silent Oath lines up in a 3 year old maiden over 900m and with the current track rating at Newcastle listed as a Heavy 10, the stable is confident. Furthermore, Silent Oath is a full brother to Group 1 winner Your Song who took out the BTC Cup on a very heavy track at Eagle Farm back in 2013. His Lordship, a son of Duke Of Marmalade and out of a Kris (GB) mare in Dathiyna, was potentially more impressive in the same trial as Silent Oath, making strong late ground. He will contest an 1100m 3 year old colts and geldings maiden tomorrow at Canterbury.

Looking to Saturday, and the likelihood of further rain, we are excited about the return of strong sprinter Wonderbolt (More Than Ready) who is adept in soft ground, as well as the return of Vergara - a very impressive first-up winner - and Meteora Miss, who finished fifth in a high rating edition of the Kindergarten Stakes on the 6th of April.

Whilst all of our hopes for the week ahead handle the ground to differing extents, perhaps the very heavy conditions around Sydney and the lower Hunter region will make it hard for all of them to go racing. In any case, keep an eye out for these freshmen as the stable looks to warm into another winter season.
