Christmas in the Cummings household just got a touch more interesting - after James won a race on protest over father Anthony and brother Edward at Gosford.

The Godolphin-trained Nipotina was given the race on protest from Native American, after the pair bumped halfway up the straight - an incident that was declared the fault of the Anthony and Edward Cummings-trained mare.

The official margin of 0.08 lengths was clearly surmountable in the stewards' minds without the interference, handing the Godolphin head trainer in Australia his 87th winner of the racing season.

Anthony and Edward earlier chalked up a winner with Ma Tante, who also won in thrilling fashion - the margin being declared 0.03 lengths in an 1100m Class 2.
