Scone Carnival Contenders Ready To Run

This weekend's Scone Carnival is shaping up as another great weekend, not just for the public but for the Stable's representatives.

Friday sees the return of a few lightly raced sprinters as well as some familiar faces. Prime Target lines up in the first race on the card over 1000m and has trained on very well since his first-up 2nd placing over one month ago. Despite the top-weight and barrier 10 we are very confident this gelding has what it takes to win and, more so, be competitive in city class races as his preparation continues.

Drago takes his place in a very suitable Class 1 over 1600m and again, despite the top-weight of 62kg's, we expect he will relish his new training regime and be hard to beat. His first-up effort was terrific and bringing the same effort here would see him fighting out the finish. Indeed, being trained out of the paddock at Wild Oaks has seen him rediscover his passion for racing and we are hopeful of a strong performance.

Our last for Friday is Forget Maybe (pictured above) who contests a Class 2 1300m Handicap. Having won two city races two preparations ago has positioned him as the rightful top-weight for this race, but that won't stop him from performing as we expect he should and fighting out the finish.

Saturday sees the stable contest three of the four main races of the day with Like Xena in the Denise's Joy Stakes (1100m), Brettan in the Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) and Vergara in the Dark Jewel Classic (1400m). All three are in very good condition for their races on Saturday with Like Xena coming off a dominant mid-week win, Vergara backing up off a very strong finishing fifth last weekends Darley Crown Stakes and Brettan first-up (check his first-up stats!) from a break and some very pleasing trials.
