Love Las Vegas Wins At Wyong

Having finished just over five lengths from the winner when racing first-up this time in off the back of three barrier trials, four-year-old Casino Prince mare Love Las Vegas headed to Wyong where she proved too good, shedding her maiden status in the Biochem Water F&M Plate (1200m) and highlighting brighter things to come.

Ridden by leading hoop Hugh Bowman, Love Las Vegas drifted back to last on the inside where she settled with Gerald Ryan's highly-touted Pirapala on her outside.

With the tempo set by the front runners being slightly easy, four of the eight runners were travelling to the lead to take up the running.

The Wayne Austin-trained Invincible Light eventually went to the lead with Irithea also travelling forward to settle in second position on the outside.

As the race favourite Pirapala started to make her move from back in the pack with jockey Brenton Avdulla surging her forward, Bowman didn't panic as he tacked onto the favourite’s back.

As the 300m mark was reached and the field had turned into the home straight, Pirapala had pulled herself up to the leading horses with the John O’Shea-trained Brittany also making a challenge.

Just as Irithea hit the lead and started to pull away; Love Las Vegas came off the back of the favourite and charged down the middle of the course to snatch a half-head victory, and in the process registering her first victory.

Purchased from the Magic Millions yearling sale from the draft of Edinburgh Park, Love Las Vegas is out of the Made Of Gold mare Hearts Of Gold.

“This is amazing. We had a friend who died a couple of years ago, and we said we would get a horse and name it after him. His name was Mark and his second was Fawaz, so that is where Prince Fawaz comes from.
