Man From Uncle Comes Out From Undercover

Oct 13, 2016

Anthony’s ability to place horses to advantage has had the stable on a roll recently, with three winners over the weekend following Moqueen’s facile success at Listed level the previous Saturday.

The plaudits justifiably flowed after the win of Thunder Fantasy at Randwick on Saturday and Lamma Hilton scored a determined win at Hawkesbury on Sunday. Kicking things off on the weekend was the debutant Man From Uncle who made short work of his rivals in a Kembla Grange maiden on Saturday. Raced by Angelo Riccio, Peter James and Michael Santangelo, Man From Uncle came into the race on the back of two trials that showed he had ability. Despite drawing barrier seven, Bobby El-Issa found the rail on the gelding before coming around the leader’s heels on straightening. Coaxed through a gap Man From Uncle responded to El-Issa’s urgings to quicken in the manner of a good horse. At the line he had a cosy half length to spare from the runner up Too Fast For Love, a margin that could have been wider had El-Issa needed to be more vigorous. Such was the manner of his win, a start at Royal Randwick now beckons.

Like Moqueen, Man From Uncle is out of the first Australian crop of undoubtedly the hottest young sire in world breeding right now, Uncle Mo. Sire of a handful of Grade 1 winners in America, including the Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist from just two crops to race, Uncle Mo seems somewhat undervalued in the Southern Hemisphere. That looks likely to change in the near future with the VRC Oaks bound Moqueen and horses with the potential of Man From Uncle and Ma Tante sure to enhance his credibility as a sire.

As can be seen above Anthony has an affinity with the breed and just days after Moqueen’s Dulcify Quality success he made another astute purchase at the Inglis Ready 2 Race sale, this one an Uncle Mo colt. Watch this website in the coming days for details of potential ownership opportunities in the handsome youngster from the family of Anthony’s multiple Gr.1 winning stayer Zavite.
