Prince Fawaz is an impressive 2YO colt who looks destined for big things under the guiding hand of Cummings Racing.

The Fastnet Rock pedigree which has produced 28 individual Group 1 winners has been stamped and this promising colt will get his chance to add his name to the list. After a couple of handy trials he showed enough natural ability to be sent around second up in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes where he exhibited a dashing last 600m missing the placings by a length and a half.

Since then he was strong at Newcastle before heading back to Randwick where he was tested over the 1400m. He is a horse that loves to be ridden toward the rear and upon straightening he was able to maintain composure after copping a check before regaining stride and turning it on at 300m to beat them home by a 1L.

Although he’s only had the one run at Group level he has showed that’s where he belongs. His win on the weekend has booked him a ticket up to the Sunshine Shine for a crack at the Group 1 JJ Atkins.

“This is amazing. We had a friend who died a couple of years ago, and we said we would get a horse and name it after him. His name was Mark and his second was Fawaz, so that is where Prince Fawaz comes from.
